History

Our department was established in 1986 within the Eskişehir Vocational School and admitted its first students in 1987. The name of Eskişehir Vocational School, which was established by the decision of the Higher Education Council No. 204 dated 19.02.1986, was changed to Civil Aviation Vocational School with the decision of the Higher Education Council No. 478 on 15.03.1989. On 11.07.1992, it was transformed into the School of Civil Aviation through Law No. 3837. Later, on 23.06.2012, the School of Civil Aviation was closed by the decision of the Council of Ministers, and the Faculty of Aeronautics and Astronautics was established. Since its foundation, our department continued its educational activities under Anadolu University until it was affiliated with Eskişehir Technical University through Law No. 7141 published in the Official Gazette on May 18, 2018.

Since its establishment, the Aviation Management Department has been a pioneer in its field and has trained numerous qualified personnel for the aviation sector. Our students have the opportunity to observe and participate in practical training at our university’s airport, which is the world’s first and only university-owned airport open to international flights.
